Internet Explorer download blocked by Windows Defender

If you are using Windows and Internet Explorer and you get a message when you try and download a file that says, "This unsafe download was blocked by Windows Defender SmartScreen." it is easy to resolve this issue. First, don't worry, our files are safe to download and this is just an improper setting on Microsoft's side.

There are two easy options to resolve this.

  1. At the bottom of your browser, where you see the message, click View Downloads. This will bring up a Downloads tab in your browser. The latest blocked download will be at the top of the list. Right click the file name. Next click Download Unsafe File (don't worry it isn't unsafe). ***NOTE*** You may have to try and download the file twice to see the "Download Unsafe File" option.
  2. Switch to an up to date and modern browser such as Chrome or Firefox. If you don't have one of these browsers downloading one is easy. You can download Chrome here or Firefox here. After you open the new browser, just login to our site again and you will not have an issue with downloading files.
